Webster First announces new Chief Marketing Officer, John Cournoyer

Webster First Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce the promotion of John Cournoyer to Chief Marketing Officer after 17 years of service.

Cournoyer is originally from Spencer, MA and attended David Prouty High School. His career began in 2006, as a part-time intern at Webster First for then CEO Michael Lussier and former Marketing Manager, Michael Dintino. After graduating from Worcester State University in 2007 with his Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A) degree in Marketing, John travelled to California, completing the nationally recognized Management Training Program of Enterprise Rent-a-Car. Upon completing the program in 2008, John moved back to Worcester, returning to Webster First as a Marketing Coordinator. During this time, John collaborated with the credit union team to accomplish and communicate:

  • Symitar core conversion upgrade and Synapsys CRM implementation (2009)
  • Grand opening of the Worcester Operations Center (2009)
  • Mergers of Saugus Federal Credit Union (2011), Fitchburg Federal Credit Union (2011), Winthrop Federal Credit Union (2011), and Filene Federal Credit Union (2012).
  • Completed NAFCU’s Management and Leadership Institute (2011)

In October 2012, John was promoted to Marketing Manager. Then, after two years, was promoted to Vice President of Marketing overseeing brand development, advertising, and market research strategies. Over the next ten years, John collaborated on and achieved:

  • Winner of New England Financial Marketing Association’s (NEFMA) Rising Star Award (2016)
  • Launch of the new Webster First website (2021)
  • Mergers of Industrial Credit Union (2015), Louise Mills Federal Credit Union (2018), and Cambridge Teachers Federal Credit Union (2024)
  • Winner of Best Credit Union of Central MA (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023)
  • Appointed Chairperson of the Webster First Strategic Development Committee (2024)

Throughout his career, the credit union has grown over $1B in assets, becoming one of the largest and most fiscally secure credit unions in Massachusetts.
